Made with organic fruit, the 2015 Carmignano Villa di Capezzana is a blend of 80% Sangiovese and 20% Cabernet Sauvignon (aged in tonneaux for 12 months). This is the flagship wine made by this estate, and it has been in production since 1925. This warm vintage opens to abundant fruit with black cherry and blackberry at the front. Including 20% Cabernet Sauvignon, the Sangiovese-dominated 2015 Carmignano Villa Di Capezzana was aged all in French oak and held in bottle for a short period prior to release. This spicy, peppery, and black cherry-fruited effort is medium-bodied, has a round, nicely textured mouthfeel, light tannins, and a good finish. It’s an outstanding blend that should evolve for a decade.
