Domaine Jean Grivot Nuits St. Georges Les Ronciere 2014
This is one of the great domaines of Burgundy. Though not biodynamic, the viticulture is as natural as possible and, I have to say, the wines are perfectly clean. This young Les Roncières shows unbelievable precision and great accessibility (I’m beginning to think that 2014 was not so bad in Burgundy).
The balance is king here. Tiptoed density, light extraction with focus on silkiness, right freshness, sharp yet graceful tannin. If not enough, the nose is an explosion of violet, flowers and subtle cherry.
Smell: light cherries, smoker in the background
Palate: so smooth! Medium tannins and such a gentile finish!
Taste: overly ripe cherries, some tobacco essence, perfect for a special occasion.
