A design brand that collaborates with Mexican artisans. Together, they create and explore possibilities to reimagine textiles, utilitarian and decorative objects made with ancient artisan techniques. ONORA seeks to find the balance between tradition and avant-garde without losing the strong ties with the cultural heritage of Mexico. Their pieces are intended for the daily rituals of modern life and give a new voice to the valuable stories that were once told to us. Each bottle cap is hand-painted by Amate artisans from Xalitla, Guerrero, a Nahuavillage by the Balsas River. Each cap illustrates the production cycle of the agave plant from which tequila is made. This unique style of Amate painting is one of the most celebrated folk-art traditions in Mexico. ONORA has a compelling marriage of caramel, honey, cooked agave, and dried fruit such as fig or quince emerges, with hints of chocolate, tobacco, and sweets that make for an enticing, aromatic scent.
