Deep yellow colour. The grape variety character is showing clearly on the nose with powerful peppery aromas. The wine has still to open. The palate is ample, powerful, warming. A fair presence of tannins, typical for this grape, add to the structure. This wine is a the opposite of the easy sweet round flowery Gewurztraminer : serious and imposing.
Ripe, almost overripe notes of juicy pear abound on the nose of this wine. There also is a sense of baked and dried pear but the palate reins that in with majestic zestiness. This wine is bold, concentrated and hot with alcohol. It’s a potent but dry Gewurztraminer of immense impact. The finish is dry and the lovely pear returns on the last notes.
